LeavenLaw Associates Attend National Consumer Law Conference

Consumer Rights Litigation ConferenceIn November, LeavenLaw Associates Aaron Swift and Jordan Isringhaus attended the Consumer Rights Litigation Conference in Washington, D.C. hosted by the National Consumer Law Center.  This national conference featured the leading consumer law attorneys in the nation as speakers and attendees.   The four-day conference included sessions on various consumer law topics and developments including in-depth discussions on mortgage loan regulation and debt collection litigation trends.  Additionally, Senators Elizabeth Warren (MA), Jack Reed (RI), and Al Franken (MN) were keynote speakers at the conference.

While at the conference, Swift and Isringhaus met with Capitol Hill Attorney Nicole Mayer, a member of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), to discuss the federal government’s position on critical issues facing Florida consumers.   “Gaining an inside view on federal policy helps us better advocate for our clients because we can understand policy changes and how they will be interpreted by our courts,” said Attorney Aaron Swift.

Several sessions at the conference focused on how the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is working to assist homeowners by requiring increased transparency.  “The CFPB is making strides by providing us tools to hold banks accountable for their actions and force disclosure of information requested by consumers,” explained Attorney Jordan Isringhaus.   On the final day of the conference, Aaron and Jordan attended the Consumer Class Action Symposium at which they discussed how to effectively advocate for classes of Florida consumers who have been harmed by illegal collection practices.

Both attorneys viewed the conference as a success and are excited to use the information and contacts they gained to assist LeavenLaw clients.
